Reiki and Energy medicine work is that channels of energy run in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These energy channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues.  An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up in others and can cause illness, stress or fatigue.

Reiki and Energy Medicines continue to be recognized as a powerful healing modality and is practiced as a complimentary medicine in many major hospitals in the country including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Individual healing sessions at WillowRock are done in the privacy of a healing room.  Each person will be greeted and then connect briefly with a practitioner to ascertain whether he/she has specific areas of discomfort and the hopes for the session.  At the end of the session, there will be time to talk briefly or to ask questions about the healing experience.

During a healing session, clients relax on a comfortable massage table.  Unlike massage, they remain clothed throughout the session.  Practitioners work according to the client’s preference, using either hands-on healing on various areas of the body, or just above the client’s body in their energy field.  Both methods are equally effective.

It is likely that no two healing sessions will be the same because each person is met where he/she is at the moment.  At times a person might feel warmth or heat and feel very relaxed; at other times, cold or coolness.  Sometimes a person will feel nothing at all.  There are times where some people become emotional and cry, while others might feel energized at the end of a session.  The beauty of a healing session is that the healing goes where it is needed in the body to enhance the life energy of the person and does what the person needs most in that moment.  A healing session can help with stress reduction, relaxation, emotional and physical pain, depression and anxiety, fatigue, and generally boosting energy levels.
